Happy and sweet new year to everyone celebrating Rosh Hashana!  Next week I’ll have some links for the break fast, but you can always look at previous dinner planners from years past for ideas if you need inspo asap.

For my monthly online cooking class students, I hope you are enjoying the September class!  I have heard from many of you who are cooking up a storm and love the new recipes!  Nothing makes me happier!  I am hosting live zoom office hours this Wednesday at 12:00 pm PT if you want to come and hang out or ask my anything.  Check your inbox for the zoom link.  Here’s your dinner planner for the week:

Meatless Monday: Harira (I often leave out the chicken and swap in a pound of cooked chickpeas.) 

TuesdayEasy Chicken Shawarma Casserole from Phoebe Lapine

WednesdaySpinach-artichoke spaghetti squash boats, I could eat just this but a simple vegetable or salad on the side would be good if you need more

Thursday: Easy Chinese Chicken served with a side of brown rice and steamed vegetables

Friday: Branzino with green olive and fennel tapenade, your favorite grilled vegetable

Saturday brunch: Deconstructed bagel and lox salad (awesome salad for Yom Kippur break fast, too)

Sunday Kol Nidre (Day Before Yom Kippur): (My sister-in-law hosts, but here are some ideas – we try to not overeat or eat too much salt) Brisket, easy no-fail whole roast chicken with onions, fennel and potatoes, shredded sweet potatoes and applesmashed potatoeshoney lemon green beans, green salad with everyday salad dressing #2, challah, grain-free apple tarte tatin

 

Here’s what you can do in advance if it helps you: 

Sunday: 

Roast spaghetti squash

Make harira and reheat tomorrow

Wash greens 

Make salad dressing

Monday: 

Make spinach-artichoke mixture for spaghetti squash boats

Marinate chicken for shawarma casserole

Wednesday:

Make olive and fennel tapenade

Cook rice for tomorrow 

Saturday: 

Make brisket and reheat tomorrow. Season whole chicken with salt to roast tomorrow.
