I always made my children and hubs a special dinner and dessert for Valentine’s Day. I loved how excited the kids were when they came home from school knowing that they would enjoy a “fancy” meal and something sweet afterwards. We never had a regular tradition of dessert after dinner. If my kids were hungry, I’d cut them up some fruit. But no one wondered where the cake or ice cream was every night.Continue reading
Thai Kabocha Squash Soup Recipe
One of my goals in creating recipes to teach in my classes is to introduce my students to healthy, whole ingredients that they don’t know what to do with. I used to be really intimidated by many types of produce and whole grains until I just decided to buy them and play with them on my own. It’s a risk, of course, if you really have no idea what you’re doing because the experiment could end up in the trash instead of served up for dinner and money would be wasted as well. Both are a big bummer.Continue reading
Dinner Planner – Week of February 3rd, 2020
Happy Weekend! I have just started working on booking locations and dates for my book tour. What I’d really, really love most of all is to meet you! Please let me know where you are and I’ll see if I can stop in your town. Email me if you’d like to invite me to speak at your school or community center. If you think you can get a large enough group, I can probably make the trip and arrange a local bookseller to come join me! [email protected]
In the meantime, Happy Super Bowl!

Dinner Planner – Week of January 27th, 2020
I had a long but great week! Something that I will share with you and only you since you are reading this is that I just filmed a few on-demand classes for the Food Network Kitchen App!! I mean, talk about a dream come true! Teaching healthy recipes is my bread and butter, so to speak. It’s where my heart and soul is and what I am best at. So it was a total joy to be able to teach a few of my recipes from my first cookbook with the pros from the Food Network. I will let you know when they go live on the app!
The Super Bowl is coming next Sunday, so don’t forget to buy your avocados early! I like to buy them rock hard and allow them to ripen on my countertop. Once they are perfect, stick them in the fridge until you’re ready to use them. Here’s your dinner planner for the week:Continue reading
